Seiko Business-A

This mid 60s Business-A is was a late comer to the Caliber 83 line of watches and best represents the tail end of the lines technical development while still retaining a classic formal look. The white silver sunburst dial is in excellent condition. There is no loose varnish and just a few spots with a bit of patina at the edges. The delphine hands are in excellent condition and the case still has sharp lines and clean brushing. The caseback is well worn however still legible and bright. The movement in this particular example is in very good condition and runs very well. The acrylic crystal is a refinished, original Seiko crystal. It also has excellent distortion to reinforces that classic look. The watch also comes on the original bracelet which has a center beads of rice which has been polished to a high shine and outer brushed segment which has been refinished. It has that jingley charm of the ear. Lastly, watches of the 60s we’re starting to add in functionality such as day/date calendars, automatic and hand winding, often at the cost of size where previous three-handers were quite small. This being, the late Cal.83 watches tend to wear a bit bigger than their predecessors and those that followed. For this reason, the Business-A is an excellent choice if a larger vintage piece with classic styling is desired, perhaps even a daily wearer as its functionalities include a day and date calendar and automatic winding.
