  • This rear loading 8110 model of the 48xx series quartz movements is a revised “B” variant with smaller battery. This does away with the battery bump-out of the “A” variant. Regardless of this small design revision, the 4823B has the same construction and heft; full metal main plate and bridges, full train of wheels and jeweled seconds jumper. The watch feels very substantial on wrist; similar if not more than its mechanical counterparts. Dial and hand finishing are excellent and a good reminder that early quartz models were some of the expensive in Seiko’s catalogue at the time. The watch case and original bracelet have been well loved with some scuffs, however the original high polished finish along the sides is still bright and the brushing along the top is well preserved. While the warm grey dial could be considered a bit 70s, the oyster style case, 3-link bracelet and thin elegant hands give it a timeless, if not contemporary, minimalist look. The dial is near perfect, as well as the handset which has just a bit of tarnishing which is not noticeable without magnification.
