Seiko Actus SS White Linen

Seiko introduced the Actus moniker purportedly being a portmanteau of Active in the late 60s. While Seiko did release quite a few Sports models under the Acuts line, there are also dressier modles with metal bracelets like the example we have here. The additional branding of SS indicates that this watch has Seconds Setting which we now commonly refer to as Hacking Seconds. This particular example has a white dial with a fine vertical grain, almost like paper and reads as matte in person. The handset, dial, and calendar are almost perfect. The case has some wear as does the bracelet. The top surface of the case has been rebrushed to give the lines more clairty, as well as Actus branded bracelet, which is the correct model for this watch. The 6306 caliber movement is a no fuss workhorse and has hacking but is automatic only. The crystal is a new old stock acrylic, box domed, and has excellent distortion. Its quite thick and its bevel gives the impression that it could be glass.

This is an excellent every day watch with a day and date function. It is automatic only so give it a shake and go. As far as style, there is nothing more classic and versatile than a white dial and can be dressed up or down. Sizing is typical to vintage sizing but perceptually smaller than most. the case is quite compact, a bit tall but one of the smallest 6306 cases I have come across.
