Seiko Lord Quartz Dark Blue

The Lord Quarts watches extended and ultimately replaced the mechanical Lord Matic series between 1976 and 1977. Similar to the Lord Matic series, both Suwa and Daini produced LQ watched. Suwa started early with the 7853 and Daini followed with the slim 7143. This particular example is a Daini design. There was also a caliber 8243 Lord Quartz but that is of no consequence to us. This particular example is compact and slim indeed. In many ways it anticipated the trend towards ever slimmer, ever more compact quartz watched, the watches that Seiko mastered in the 80s. This watch could well be considered ahead of its time for this reason. It is in excellent condition; dial, handset, case and bracelet all look very nice not without some scratches and dings. The dial is a glassy midnight blue and looks very crisp.

Quartz watches run consistently and reliably and don’t need to be reset if out of use. Further, these early Seiko quartz are well built - They feel luxurious in hand desipe being slim and compact. These are excellent every day watches and can be dressed up or down. As far as sizing, it is somewhat smaller than typically mechanical watches form the 70s, certainly smaller than the Cal.56 series. It may be comparable to the chariot 2 handers however with all the functionality of quartz and a day and date complication.
